Symbol Technologies Announces Support for the WiMAX Forum™

Symbol Technologies, Inc. , Enterprise Mobility Company™, today announced its support for the , an industry-led organization that promotes the interoperability and certification of broadband wireless products based on the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.16 standard. The WiMAX Forum supports the development of new products based on the IEEE 802.16 standard.

Symbol believes that WiMAX technology will build upon Wi-Fi in a very complimentary way, expanding open standard based wireless networking for metropolitan-area outdoor mobility applications.
