Company Will Showcase RFID-Empowered Baggage Tracking System that Increases Airport Security and Efficiency
Symbol Technologies, Inc. , The Enterprise Mobility Company™, today announced that it will participate in the Congressional Internet Caucus' Eighth Annual "Kickoff Reception and Technology Fair" on
Wednesday, February 9. During the fair, Symbol will demonstrate its Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) solution for improving baggage tracking, which will increase security and efficiency at
national and international airports.
As a leader in RFID, Symbol will offer policymakers a hands-on demonstration of baggage-tracking systems, such as the one in use at the Las Vegas McCarran International Airport. Symbol tracking
systems have the potential to reduce instances of lost luggage, as well as increase security by quickly recognizing if baggage owners never board the plane. The demonstration will include Symbol's
mobile handheld RFID reader and RFID safety tags.
"RFID technology has the potential to greatly improve the growing needs of our nation's transportation industry, as we strive to ensure the safety of passengers traveling both at home and abroad,"
said Piyush Sodha, vice president and general manager of Symbol's RFID Division.
