Symbol Technologies to Present at Manhattan Associates' Momentum 2004 Conference

Symbol Technologies, Inc. , The Enterprise Mobility Company™, today announced that Alan Melling, senior director of EPC solutions, will speak about radio frequency identification technology at the Manhattan Associates Momentum 2004 Conference. Momentum 2004, a supply chain management conference, is being held at the Walt Disney Resort Hilton in Orlando, Florida.

Melling will present at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, and will be discussing EPC-Enabled Enterprise Mobility.

RFID is an automatic data capture (ADC) technology that comprises small data-carrying labels or tags and fixed or mobile readers (scanners). Tags are attached to or embedded in objects to be identified. Readers may be installed at locations where data capture is required, and may also be in the form of portable readers. Information is transmitted between the tags and readers using radio frequencies. RFID technology is used to mark, identify and track objects, such as pallets and cases, as they move from the manufacturing floor through the supply chain to point of delivery.
