2005-3-8 HOLTSVILLE, N.Y.
Symbol Technologies, Inc. , The Enterprise Mobility Company™, today announced that William Nuti, president and chief executive officer, has been named one of Fast Company magazine's 2005 "Fast 50"
winners. Nuti was recognized in the "Reinvention" category for charting a new course for Symbol through innovation.
The 2005 "Fast 50" list, published in Fast Company's March issue, is compiled from a survey of the magazine's readers, which generates thousands of entries and tens of thousands of comments from
around the world. The end result is acclamation of 50 leaders, innovators and technology pioneers.
This recognition marks the first time Nuti has been included in the "Fast 50" list. Nuti was acknowledged for rebuilding Symbol's corporate culture beginning at the start of 2004 when he took the
helm of a company facing shareholder and government lawsuits and financial losses. He was specifically noted for executing a remarkable business turnaround.
During 2004, Nuti instituted a change management initiative that reversed Symbol's direction, established a new corporate vision, and created a new brand for Symbol -- The Enterprise Mobility
Company. Nuti also led the Company's strategic acquisition of Matrics, Inc. -- an integral part of Symbol's move to lead the emerging RFID market. Fast Company also noted that Nuti's efforts to
"set Symbol straight" enabled the company to deliver marked financial improvements.
